Men's Fashion

I'm not sure if anyone is noticing but lately there has been a flux towards mens fashion. It has been all over the Internet, Magazines and the runway. It almost seems that mens shows have been overriding womens this season.
I have recently been reading GQ (at the gym, the only mag I haven't read) and I must say, it is a great magazine. The past couple of months have all made a huge emphasis on men's clothing on a budget. Given the times of our economy it completely makes sense. Pages and pages were full of suits, shoes, shirts all on budget but still looked good. H&M, Unqulo and J.Crew seem to be many of the favorites. Even Land's End is making a break through with their new line Land's End Canvas. I couldn't believe the men's shirt I saw in GQ, so I had to visit the site.
Canvas, newly launch by Lands End is geared for both women and men. The new line features a modern twist to Land Ends basics. For women, garments are slimmer and sleek. Dresses and skirts are shown in A-lines, Shift and are made in jerseys and poplin. The style resembles much like J.Crew. The same goes for the men's, shirts are cut closer to the body for a more modern fit. I think this is great for Lands End to expand to a different client, they already have a great reputation as a company but now they can reach a larger consumer bracket.

Make sure and check them out, cute stuff...........

Chanel sister brand tie together

The world renown Karl Lagerfeld decides to tie together Chanel's classic look with his sister company Eres. Eres is a High end French swimwear and lingerie company so to be linked even closer to Chanel in their upcoming advertisements. The new advertisements will be seen on Eres website in mid to late may. The ads feature a playful image, a model perceived as a dress-up paper doll. On the website you will be able to strip the model down to her bare Eres bra and panties. The models top garments are of Chanel and with one click of the mouse, off it goes. Quite cleaver if you ask me.

I have visited the website but this advertisement has not been put up yet, I guess they are running alittle late. Check it later at

Nice swimwear and lingerie if interested

Marymount and WWD

WWD visits Marymount for Portfolio in Motion...............

First I would like to say that I am glad the show is over, I can finally sleep and get rid of the bags under my eyes. Second I am glad to hear all the positive feed back from the show. Since I did not get to see it, ahen asking others about it people responded positvely. Many said it was the best show they saw and the most proffessional Marymount has ever done.

For those who dont know, WWD visited Thursday's event with Isabel Toledo. WWD also did an article about her visit....... A chip noted.............

Isabel Toledo Gives Advice to Marymount Students
ARLINGTON, Va. — Isabel Toledo’s advice for aspiring designers: Learn to sew. “Become great sewers because that really expands the world for you,” Toledo told students at Marymount University’s annual “Portfolio in Motion” student fashion show here Thursday night, where the designer was honored by the school for her body of work. “Don’t just sketch an idea — think about it in the round, build it, work it.”

To read full article visit their website and search Marymount University.

The article is mainly about Toledo and her husband but I guess the school got some press

H&M for AIDS

H&M gets festive to raise money for AIDS...........

H&M continues its fight against AIDs with there new launch of garments inspired the festive goer. The clothing will hit some 200 H&M locations around the world on May 20. One quarter of the sales will be donated youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects.
The launch includes about 20 garments for women, 12 for men and around 20 accessories that range from a leopard print tent to headphones. The garments exhibit fringe, bohemian prints, cut-off jeans and chucky inspired jewelry all perfect for a rock star.

A list of stores was not included so I am assuming you should call your local H&M to see if the collection will be carried their. I do highly suggest to do so, the garments look super cute.

Jimmy Choo- Lite Shoes

Shoes are going to the extreme...............

Get rid of your flashlight, these shoes supply light with carrying extra baggage.
We can all recall back on light up shoes we wore as kids, well they are not just for kids anymore.

Jimmy Choo launched a new platform with a battery operated illuminated neon pink platform. The new shoe measures a five inch heel with a one inch platform. The down fall to these shoes is that the battery is not rechargeable and only lasts for 100 hours. So after a month of showing off, in the garbage they go. You would think with a $2500 price tag, they would last a bit longer.

Katy Perry wore these shoes to the ASCAP awards in L.A. She loved them and said "She felt like a kid again with her L.A Gears but this time there Jimmy Choo"

I will say they are fun, but not for the price tag or the time that they last.

I am sure with in time someone will knock them off and will last longer.

Here is a website that shows a video of them lighting up

Fashion Show with Toledo

Marymount Fashion Show featuring designer Isabel Toledo was held Thursday the 23rd.

For those who don't know Thursday nights show sold tickets for $100. This included drinks, appetizers and a silent auction. The Verizon gym was decorated in long flowing curtains, lights were dim and all guests were dressed in a fashionable manner.
I only got to see this for a minute, as I have been stuck down stairs.

Toledo and her husband visited the models and backstage along with the crazy camera men a couple minutes before the show. I felt so bad, the poor woman and her husband got bombarded by students. She quickly scoped out the garments and left shortly after. I was excepting her to look through all the garments but that was not the case.

Things ran very smoothly besides one of the girls zippers got stuck in quick change and was unable to make her next garment.

Overall the night was nice, I heard everybody loved it..... To bad I was stuck downstairs

Fall 2010 Trends

I just want to say how excited I am for Fall 2010 trends. Finally the focus has been put on the actual consumer instead of what looks good just on the model.

2010 Trend
The new age arctic chic meets classic mid century women. The designers of women’s fall fashion 2010 have created a palette of romance, sex appeal and savvy tailoring. Emphasis has been given to layering and combining both textured and smooth garments. Fur rules the runway and is offset by it’s parallel, leather. Fashion’s obsession with the blazer will continue to ride the trend wave in the fall but is fitted more then ever. The classic men’s suit remains inspiration to women’s wear. The classic two-piece suit has reached modern limits and is a must this fall. Tailoring is streched to the limits creating strong silhouettes. Hemlines will be seen at all lengths but will be seen mostly at the knee or feet. Stocking are also a key piece for fall, to keep the legs warm accentuate in colors and patterns that are taken to a whole new level. As seen for spring, ruffles will continue to add feminine detail to garments in the fall. Talk about exposure dresses, jackets and shirts feel anything but basic as sheer fabrics and lace expose hints of skin. Bright colors are making there way out from fall 09 and spring 10. Back to the basics for fall consisting of blacks, browns and grays. There will still be color, just not bright and bold as before but toned down reds and oranges.

The 2o1o shows were amazing. I just wish I was rich so I could buy everything!!!
